ABRSM Music Theory Classes & Leaving Certificate Music
Music Theory — Grades 1 to 8
Our weekly music theory classes support students who are preparing for practical music exams and help build a stronger understanding of notation, harmony, rhythm and musicianship.
Grades 1–5
Taught by Angela Mahon
Thursday, 6:00–7:00 p.m.
Grades 6–8
Taught by Robert Mahon
Thursday, 6:00–7:00 p.m.
Students may be working at different levels within the same session, with Angela and Robert supporting the different grades.
We strongly encourage students following the ABRSM practical exam route to take music theory alongside their instrument. In particular, students must have Grade 5 Theory or an accepted equivalent before entering an ABRSM Grade 6, 7 or 8 Practical exam.
Students can also prepare for and sit the ABRSM Music Theory examinations, with many choosing to take their exam towards the end of the school year.
Fee: €200 per term
